Erik's Military Awards
These awards were presented to me for individual achievement or accomplishments during my 11 years of service in the Active Untied States Army and the Nebraska and Minnesota Army National Guard.


 
Army Commendation Medal
A citation for "…meritorious service as a Military Policeman in the 984th MP Co, serving in numerous tactical deployments in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Safe Harbor (Haitian resettlement, 1992), and for participating in an outstanding arrest of an armed felon, following an intense pursuit…" (Fort Carson, 1991).
Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal
Awarded for five consecutive years of service in the Armed Forces Reserve.
National Defense Service Medal
Awarded for military service in time of war (Operation Desert Storm, 1991).
Armed Forces Expeditionary Service Medal
Awarded for participation in the Defense and Stabilization of Panama (Operation Just Cause, 1989).
Southwest Asia Service Medal
For service in the following campaigns of the Gulf War:
Defense of Saudi Arabia
Liberation of Kuwait
Southwest Asia Cease-Fire
Humanitarian Service Medal
For service in the Guantanamo bay, Cuba, Haitian refugee camps, during Operation Safe Harbor (1992).
Armed Forces Reserve Medal
Awarded for 10 years of service in the Army and National Guard.
Non-Commissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon
For successful completion of the Army's Primary Leadership Development Course.
Army Service Ribbon
For successful completion of U.S. Army Basic Combat Training and Military Police School.
Overseas Service Ribbon
Awarded for active duty overseas service.  (Panama, 1989-1990; Persian Gulf Theatre, 1990-1991)
Armed Forces Reserve Overseas Training Ribbon
Awarded for Reserve Component overseas service.  (Germany, 1997).
Liberation of Kuwait Medal (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia)
Awarded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for participation in the liberation of Kuwait (Operation Desert Storm, 1991).
Liberation of Kuwait (Kingdom of Kuwait)
Awarded by the Kingdom of Kuwait for participation in the their liberation (Operation Desert Storm, 1991).

Nebraska National Guard Individual Achievement Medal

For multiple achievements in pistol marksmanship, while assigned to Troop B, 1/167th US Cavalry, Nebraska Army National Guard.  Citation reads, in part: "...for demonstrating excellence in the marksmanship arena by achieving a score of 300 points out of a possible 300 with the .45 pistol...for superior instruction to unit members in marksmanship training...recognized as a member of the unit pistol team"

Nebraska National Guard Service Medal

Awarded for five years consecutive service in the Nebraska Army National Guard.
Minnesota State Active Duty Award
For participating in the emergency activation of the 34th MP Company, following a storm in Newport, Minnesota (1997).


Unit Awards
These awards were presented to units I served in for exceptional duty performance.  Because I was serving in the unit when these awards were given, I am entitled to wear them permanently.

 
Joint Unit Meritorious Award
Presented to the 984th MP Co. for participation in Joint Task Force Guantanamo, Guantanamo bay, Cuba, 1992. During this deployment, my unit was responsible for the security of over 12,000 Haitian migrants who lived in refugee camps there.
Meritorious Unit Citation
Presented to the 759th MP Battalion for service in Operation Desert Storm, Persian Gulf Theatre, 1991.  My unit, prior to theonset of the ground war, was responsible for providing security for base clusters in Saudi Arabia, including both ground and air-mobile quick reaction forces.  During the ground war, my unit provided direct support to the 6th French Light Infantry, and the 101st Airborne and 82nd Airborne Divisions of the US Army, securing vital supply and invasion routes into Western Iraq.
Superior Unit Award
Presented to the 92nd MP Battalion, Fort Clayton, Panama, for service during Operation Promote Liberty, 1990. During this operation, the 92nd MP Battalion assisted with the establishment and training of the new Panamanian National Police in post-invasion Panama.
